Description
As part of our Freedom Celebration, CFSY will facilitate multiple proximity experiences for our guests. These experiences will be centered around local, historical, and/or healing elements of our work. Guests attending each experience will reflect the diversity of our movement and include members of ICAN and NFN, advocates, partners, and supporters. Please be aware there is limited space on each excursion and guests will be assigned to groups beforehand based on survey responses. If you did not receive the survey, please reach out to our team at freedomcelebration@cfsy.org. Boxed lunches will be provided to guests on each experience.
- Art & Advocacy Tour with Eastern State Penitentiary
Eastern State Penitentiary is the world’s first penitentiary, a 19th century experiment in justice reform. This group will be led on a guided tour by Mark Loughney, a formerly incarcerated Philadelphia-based artist. The tour will explore Eastern State Penitentiary's complex history, its ongoing relevance to contemporary social issues, and set the stage for conversation about justice and the role of prisons in society. Following the tour, group members are invited to visit Mark’s nearby studio. Time-permitting, group members may also be able to join the walking tour of a number of Philadelphia’s famous murals led by our partners at Mural Arts Philadelphia.
- Philadelphia Eagles Stadium Tour
This group will venture to Lincoln Financial Field for a tour of the home stadium of the Philadelphia Eagles. The tour will include a private tour of the field, locker room, team tunnel, postgame interview room. Group members will be able to visit the press box, broadcast booth, and state of the art sensory room.
- Philadelphia City Tour
This group will begin their tour with a bus ride to Philadelphia’s famous Rocky Steps. Group members will have a chance to take photos with the famous statue of Rocky Balboa, climb the steps, and see the beautiful city skyline. Next, the group will ride the bus to Independence Mall, where group members will have the opportunity to visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the US Constitution was written. Time-permitting, group members may also be able to join the walking tour of a number of Philadelphia’s famous murals led by our partners at Mural Arts Philadelphia.
- Mural Arts Walking Tour
Please join our partners our partners at Mural Arts Philadelphia for a walking tour of a number of Philadelphia’s famous murals. The tour will depart from the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown lobby at 2pm and last approximately 90 minutes.
